We help demystify what causes disengagement, helping you find more growth and balance at work.
This is Our Story
Hey, I’m Alex.
I was a late starter in the corporate world. I spent a good chunk of my 20s travelling around the world, skiing, and trying to squeeze in as many gap years as possible.
When I landed my first ‘real’ job at 25, most of my friends had already been working for a few years. My goal? Work for epic brands, and move up the ladder as quickly as possible.
So, I spent the past decade doing just that- working my way up from part-time intern, to leading regional marketing teams at world-class brands like Red Bull and Squarespace.
I’ve been there…
I’m lucky enough to have had three ‘dream roles’ in my career. I distinctly remember the moment when I found out I got each job. I honestly thought I was the luckiest person in the world.
But there’s something that seems to happen around the 2-3 year mark at each company. It gets a little less exciting. You’ve seen under the hood and things don’t look quite so rosy. Dare I say, I was starting to feel pretty disengaged.
Some things were obvious causes- like being told by a former boss that I would never make it to their level in my career (spoiler alert: I did), or being laid off in my tech role, with nothing lined up next.
But other things were less obvious- like missing out on that promotion I was gunning for, or feeling the energy of my team slowly start to fade.
The more I spoke with people, the more I realised I wasn’t alone.
The reality is, feeling disengaged doesn’t mean you’re not good at your job, or that you don’t care about it.
In fact, it’s the opposite. It shows that you care deeply about what you do.
It’s just about figuring out (and solving) what’s causing it.
